Spooktacular Decor! Tacky or Tasteful?

All of us here at First Call would like to wish you a Happy Halloween and share with you some of our staff's spooktacular decorating tips from this past month. Read below to get some great ideas on decor you can use well into the Thanksgiving season!

Pumpkin Mania! Cassie Deaton, our marketing rep never lets the saying "Less is More" rule her home. She loves to mix and match all of her decorations to make an interesting and eye-popping display! Cassie painted fake pumpkins (bought at our local art supply store) to personalize the holiday season.

Painting something as simple as your initial can really turn a plain pumpkin or gourd into a decoration you will want to put out every year. TIP Make sure you leave your pumpkins out through thanksgiving! Pumpkins and gourds are perfect to decorate with all throughout autumn.

Use tape to make graphic and interesting designs. Cassie taped off the bottom of this pumpkin and painted the top white. This style is seen in many home magazines this year, and really seems to be becoming popular. What do you think?

This design was made by placing a paper doily over the top of a white pumpkin and tapping the paint brush around the edges. TIP Use doilies with beautiful and interesting designs for a more Victorian outcome.

If you are like most, you have collected tons of decorations over the years and they don't all necessarily match. That's OK! Have fun and place the items together to make a display. You will see that you end up with a wonderful "shabby chic" style, that is great for any country home!

Trees are not just for Christmas. Use your miniature trees and decorate them for the season....Take it from First Call's owner Priscilla! She used her Halloween decorations to make a festive tree to display in our company kitchen!
